Missouri in the summer is hot. But it’s also beautiful. Especially Washington, Missouri. I’m slightly biased, because I live in Washington, but it really is the cutest little town, nestled on the Missouri River. And it’s the perfect place for a summer wedding. Even in the heat. And especially when two people are as sweet as Mackenzie and Alex.

Mackenzie and Alex met in high school, and started dating their junior year. They graduated, and went to separate colleges that happened to be in the same small town, just miles apart. Their common interests in sports and fitness led them down similar career paths. They were destined to be together.

As Mackenzie and Alex knelt together, in front of all that loved them the most, in the church they had attended their whole lives, the priest offered this advice…

To build a strong marriage, just like a strong body, you need to do three things:

1. Always stay flexible
2. Strive for balance
3. Rely upon your core.

I don’t know for sure, but I feel like those were the perfect words of wisdom for Mackenzie and Alex. It speaks to who they are, and what they love. And, when life inevitably throws a curve ball at their marriage, they can look back at the words from their wise priest, and make it through, together, stronger.

One of my favorite parts of every wedding, is hearing the toasts given by those closest to the bride and groom. I especially love hearing the bride’s dad. There’s really no other bond quite like a dad and his little girl. The pride and love Mackenzie’s dad had for his little girl on her big day, was written all over his face. And came out in full force during the father daughter dance. Best. Dance. I’ve. Ever. Seen. It was perfection. Fun, joyful, care free, hilarious. Everything that I would imagine their relationship is. Mackenzie had chosen to do a first look with her dad before walking down the aisle, and I could see the bond and love then, but the dance sealed the deal. It was epic.

Mackenzie and Alex, your day was perfection. I am SO happy for you both! Thank you for trusting me to capture everything that happened. I hope you find as much happiness and joy in your marriage as their was all day Saturday. I hope that when you see these pictures, you remember exactly how you felt, and forget exactly how hot it was. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for trusting me to be the one taking them. It was an absolute honor, and I had a blast doing it. I truly felt like part of the family, and loved every minute of it! Cheers!
