Today I’m going to highlight why digital wedding photography can be an excellent option for any couple seeking an exceptional wedding photography experience. I mean absolutely no insult to film photographers (I adore film photography,) but there are some drawbacks to film and benefits to digital-only on your wedding day.

I’m NOT a film photographer, and why I’m okay with it…

In case you haven’t noticed, film photography has made a huge resurgence in the wedding photography world in recent years. While I believe there are many benefits to choosing digital photography on your wedding day, there are some details you might be unaware of regarding some slight drawbacks to film photography.

Taking digital photographs allows me to work faster, be more flexible, and keep costs down—all while delivering stunning, high-quality photos.

Choosing a Film vs. Digital-Only Wedding Photographer

Choosing a wedding photographer—whether they specialize in digital, film, or both—is about finding someone who can artfully preserve your wedding day memories in a style that resonates with you, ensuring your entire experience is the crème de la crème.

While some equate film photography with luxury, I’m on a mission to show that luxury transcends the type of camera used. Both film and digital photographers deliver their work digitally.

Actually, many couples are surprised to learn that several film photographers rely extensively on digital cameras during weddings. Unlike digital photography, shooting on film can be time-consuming and limit the variety of poses and spontaneous shots captured.

To the untrained eye, the difference between film and digital images is often hard to detect. Couples are typically drawn to a specific look or style, which digital photography can achieve beautifully.m.

Reasons Why I’m a Wedding Photographer Who Doesn’t Use Film:

1. Practicality and Efficiency with Digital Wedding Photography

Film photography can be costly with expenses piling up from film rolls and developing fees. Moreover, the process can introduce delays in delivering your wedding photos. In contrast, digital technology allows me to adjust settings instantly and ensures I capture every fleeting emotion without interruptions.

2. Prioritizing Your Wedding Day Experience

Your wedding day is a once-in-a-lifetime event, and I’m committed to letting it unfold naturally. Shooting on film, with its limited shots per roll and slower workflow, could disrupt the flow of your celebrations. Digital photography enables me to seamlessly document your day, ensuring you can fully immerse yourself in the moment while I focus on capturing it authentically.

3. Speed, Versatility, and Artistic Vision

My photography style is characterized by vibrant colors and genuine emotions. Digital photography provides the speed and flexibility to capture a wide range of poses and spontaneous moments efficiently. This versatility enriches your wedding album with a diverse mix of memories, each reflecting the joy and beauty of your special day.

4. Luxury Defined Beyond the Camera

While film is often associated with luxury, true luxury transcends the type of camera used. It’s about crafting an exceptional experience, emphasizing craftsmanship, and delivering a personal touch that resonates with each couple. Choosing digital over film allows me to maintain a streamlined process that prioritizes your experience and ensures the efficient delivery of vibrant, timeless photos.

In conclusion, my decision not to shoot film ensures you receive vibrant, timeless photos that authentically capture the essence of your celebration. It’s not about preferring one medium over the other—it’s about creating lasting memories that reflect your unique love story in a style you love.
