The One with a Lakecation

We’ve been home from visiting my family for a month, and I’m finally getting around to blogging about our adventures. This summer is flying by!

My parents live in Seattle, and have a house on Lake Tapps.  We go every year and spend a week with my entire family.  It’s the only time I get to see my family every year, and it’s a treasure.

I grew up vacationing at a lake every summer.  We’d rent a house and a boat with my dad’s best friend and his family.  We’d spend a week boating, eating and playing.  I learned to water-ski, eventually slalom, begged to be “dusted” off the tube, and looked forward to that trip every summer.  My dad always said his favorite part was being able to “turn the keys in” at the end of the week.  He hated the idea of the upkeep of a second house and especially a boat.  He swore he’d never own either.

HA

We love to tease him about that proclamation! Because now he owns both, and we all love it.  And now my kids get to grow up making some of the same memories I made as a kid.  It’s wonderful.

And this year was no different, aside from my youngest sister being out of the country, and not with us.  We ate a lot.  Because our family basically revolves around food.  And treats.  And it’s amazing.

We call it Lakecation.  And no one can agree on how to spell it.  I finally conceded to my sister’s version.  Which was very hard for me!  I’m the oldest, and I’m always right. Always.

I tried to teach the 3 oldest kids how to water ski, and they gave up after one try.  Maybe next year.

We played lots of pickle ball (which is one of the BEST games ever!). The kids scootered around the huge driveway for hours and hours.  And we got to meet the newest addition to the family, baby Ezra.  Who my 2 year old baby was obsessed with.  It was adorable.

And of course, I took lots of family pictures.  Which is my favorite thing to do.  Especially in the Seattle summer weather.  It’s pure heaven.

It's about more than hiring someone to hold a camera and snap a few pics. Wedding photography is about capturing the joyful, bright, authentic moments of your big day in a way that beautifully tells the story of your love.

Your moments matter.
