The One with the Sunflower Field

When Meg emailed me, she told me how her sweet husband had planted her a sunflower field and she really wanted to get some family pictures in it.

I was IN.  I LOVE sunflowers.  I have my whole life.  When I was 12, I thought it’d be cool to learn how to cross stitch.  So I kind of sorta figured it out, and cross stitched 2 sunflowers along with the words “Faith is like a little seed, if planted it will grow.”  My mom loved it so much, she framed it, and it hung in my room until I left home.  I actually still have it, saved in a box of stuff from my childhood.

I guess you could say I love sunflowers because they remind me of the importance of faith.  All flowers and plants start out as a seed, and grow into something bigger and more beautiful than that seed.  But a sunflower grows into a giant, strong flower.  I want my faith to be big and strong, just like a sunflower.  Not like a daisy.  Or a buttercup.

Back to the field of sunflowers.  It was gorgeous.  And huge.  We’re talking an actual, legit, field!  Not a few rows, or a garden, a FIELD!  And we got lucky, they had survived a rain storm, and stayed pretty just for us.

And let’s talk about this cute family!  They didn’t need sunflowers.  Really they made the sunflowers look even better.  And Meg and Isaac totally handled their couple pictures.  I didn’t even need to tell them what to do.  They were naturals in front of my camera!

And then there’s baby Laurel.  She was easily the most chill baby I’ve ever met.  Sit her in the middle of the sunflower field.  No problem.  Sit on the grass in a tutu.  Done.  She didn’t. cry. once.  Angel baby right here folks.  And so. stinking. cute.  The end.

It's about more than hiring someone to hold a camera and snap a few pics. Wedding photography is about capturing the joyful, bright, authentic moments of your big day in a way that beautifully tells the story of your love.

Your moments matter.
