There are weddings. And then there are airplane hangar weddings. I’ll be the first to admit, that when Megan told me her reception would be in an airplane hangar, I had no idea what to expect. I knew it would be awesome, and I was beyond excited about it, but that was about it! And then Megan and Tim’s wedding day came. And all the awesome and all the excitement, turned into one word: Epic. Megan and Tim’s airplane hangar wedding, was nothing short of epic.
Full disclosure, the entire wedding didn’t take place in the airplane hangar. The day started at Megan’s parent’s beautiful home. Where Megan and her girls got ready, and prepared for her big day. Typical with Missouri in April, it was raining. But that did not damper the mood in the least. There was too much excitement for the day ahead. And the epic-ness began with Megan’s dress.
THE dress.
The dress that no one would have ever guessed Megan would choose. But absolutely perfect for her nonetheless. Add in the gorgeous, cathedral length, beaded veil, and Megan’s turquoise stiletto heels, and perfection was an understatement. Then there were the bridesmaids, wearing the classiest black pant suits. And Megan’s mom in a gorgeous black dress. Things were shaping up to be classy AND epic.
And just like that, it was time. Time for Megan to walk down the aisle, arm in arm with her dad. St. Agatha’s Catholic church was full. Everyone stood and turned as the doors opened. And out walked a bagpiper and drummer. Epic. But everyone, Tim most of all, was anxiously waiting for Megan. Watching her walk down the aisle, minutes away from marrying her best friend, was magical.
During the ceremony, the rain cleared. Sun filtered through the stained glass as Megan and Tim shared their first kiss as husband and wife. The perfect spring weather that greeted us all as we left the church, was just another glorious addition to this perfect day. Especially when we got to Tower Grove Park, and all the spring blooms were calling for us!
Megan and Tim’s bridal party were so much fun! The guys looked so dapper in their classic balck tuxes. And the girls rocked their pant suits WITH pockets! Pictures in the park were perfection. Just like everything else.
While the bride and groom and their wedding party were taking pictures, their guests began arriving at the Helicopter’s, Inc. They were greeted with cocktail hour and then called to their seats in the massive airplane hangar. Each table had it’s own wedding cake, and each place setting had it’s own antler bottle opener for guests to take home. A small airplane, a helicopter, and two fancy cars made for the perfect backdrop. The only thing missing were the bride and groom and their wedding party!
The guests eagerly waited as the hangar doors were opened wide. And down the runway came two horse-drawn stagecoaches, filled with the cowboy-hat-wearing wedding party! Megan grew up with horses, and wanted to include her love of horses in her wedding somehow. An epic stagecoach entrance was the perfect way!
The cake was cut, the toasts were toasted, and the party was underway. The airplane hangar was massive, but it was filled to the brim with love and happiness for the newly married couple. The epic day was the perfect start to the rest of their lives.
Megan and Tim, it was an absolute joy spending the day laughing with you! You are the sweetest couple. Megan, never stop holding Tim’s beer! 😉 And Tim, never stop making Megan smile!
