The One that’s Bright and Airy

I’m pretty sure that 99% of the people that read this ole blog are related to me.  But just in case you’re not, and you’re wondering who the heck I am, check out THIS post.  And if you’re wondering how Emily Broadbent Photography came to be, check out THIS post. But, if you’re wondering what kind of photographer I am, keep reading!

Two things I’ve learned as a photographer: the importance of consistency, and the importance of having a distinct style.

When I first started out, I had no idea what my style of photography was, or what I wanted it to be.  I was more concerned with figuring out all the right camera settings, and then getting some decent poses out of people.  Which meant I spent A LOT of time on Pinterest.  Oh Pinterest.  How did we ever function without you?!  In the midst of searching for, and pinning, poses, and lighting hacks, and camera settings, and more poses, I discovered the style of photography I was most drawn to and inspired by.

I fell in love with all things bright and airy.  And by fell in love, I mean obsessed. And once I became obsessed with that style, I was on the hunt to learn everything I could, to be able to achieve it myself.

Enter Amy and Jordan.

I could quite possibly write a book about how much I love, admire and respect these two.  High school sweethearts, who taught elementary school together, who then discovered a passion (and incredible talent) for photography, who then made it in a big way as high end wedding photographers, who combined their talents for teaching and taking pictures to teach photographers, like little ole me, how to take bright and airy and creamy and dreamy pictures.  They are simply incredible.  And SO inspiring.

I haven’t actually met them in person. So I probably sound like a borderline stalker.  But not too long ago they launched their first online, available-to-photographers-all-over-the-world, Shooting and Editing Course. You better believe I jumped ALL over that bad boy, and proceeded to binge watch the entire course.

Two words.  Game. Changer.

I wish I could put into words just how much I learned from Amy and Jordan.  I now know EXACTLY what my style is.  And I’m doing everything I can to be consistent in that style.  I’ve always been a what-you-see-is-what-you-get type of girl, and I want what you see from me to be what you get.  Every time.  And I want it to be joyful, and beautiful, and personal.

Amy and Jordan started me on my path to consistency and a distinct style.  And I’m totally and completely in love with where it’s taking my photography.  That obsession I have with bright and airy images is one of the driving forces behind every session I have.  And I’m a make-it-happen kind of girl!

So, if you find yourself drawn to those brighter, airier images, let’s do a photo shoot!  I am so totally your girl! 😉

It's about more than hiring someone to hold a camera and snap a few pics. Wedding photography is about capturing the joyful, bright, authentic moments of your big day in a way that beautifully tells the story of your love.

Your moments matter.
